How to overcome envy and jealousy

For any individual, the key to a victorious life now and in the future is to live the life that Christ gives and not just stay in the operations of the flesh that lead backward into regression, reduction and failure. As a Christian, you have the power to live like Christ.

JOHN 1: 12-13
“But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Feeling bad at another person for what they have that you don’t have and wishing you were the one that had it is a work of the flesh that you must not allow to rule your life. It leads to hatred, rancour, offenses, bitterness, division, loss of personal joy, the want to be like another person and even a low self esteem. It makes you lack confidence in what you have, who you are, your own gifts, talents and skills, and it makes you look down on yourself.
The solution to this long age feminine monster is to understand, appreciate and celebrate your own specialness in God. God created you different and placed a special value on you. You are unique!

EPHESIANS 2: 10
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

I PETER 2:9
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light”

Begin to see yourself in this order and seek God’s face for the special things He has put inside you and also, to help you explore those things so that you can enjoy them and walk in them. God is also at work in your own life to bring joy and fulfilment to you. Believe in God’s work in your own life and also celebrate His works in other people’s lives.
Envy will make you God’s enemy because you wish for evil to happen to somebody that God has favoured! Envy made King Saul to go after David, envy made Cain to kill Abel, envy made Haman to be bitter at Mordecai. Run from envy before it cuts you off divine flows.
Is there anyone that you are envious of and you feel so uncomfortable about his/her joy, blessing, promotion, greatness or anything at all? It is time to break the yoke of envy off your neck. Here’s how:

·         Bind the spirit of envy, strife, jealousy and tension. Break its hold off your life
·         Mention the names of such people and pray for them to have increase on every side and be blessed
·         Deliberately rejoice and celebrate with them with a joyful heart
·         Pass compliments across e.g. “you look so good”, “that was a great project”, “you are such a fantastic speaker” etc.
·         If you can afford it, send a nice gift to them
·         Don’t yield to envy-moved prayers. “Lord, see that girl’s dress, give me my own” such prayers make you to lose your joy!

You can approach God as a father. Believe Him for anything and everything you want personally. You can learn from others but don’t envy them. Be secure in who you are in God, appreciate who He has made you and thank Him for what is happening in your life per time.
Celebrate others without desiring to have what they have. John the Baptist celebrated Jesus, he didn’t wish he was Him (John 1, read please). Paul celebrated Peter, Apollos and other disciples in I Corinthians chapter 3.
Stop envy! Go for a great life in God and watch your life become all that God has ordained it to be. Receive grace as you make a decision to apply these truths to your life.  God bless you in Jesus’ name J
